Can I take the Collagen Activator in addition to my existing collagen supplement?Updated 8 months ago

When mixing supplements, it should be taken care to ensure that the total recommended daily dose of each nutrient is still beneficial to health. There are also guidelines and recommendations from the authorities regarding higher doses over a longer period of time that are considered safe. This is the so-called tolerable upper level (UL) or no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL).

Regarding our Collagen Activator the following measures should be taken into account for adults when mixing with other supplements:

  1. Daily Glycine intake, together with other collagen supplements, shouldn't exceed 9 g (129.0 mg/kg bodyweight/day). No restrictions for proline or hydroxyproline reported.
  2. A daily intake of 1 g of AKG is recognized as safe. No reported recommendation to date.
  3. A total daily intake of 0.2 mg astaxanthin per kg bodyweight is safe for adults (i.e. for a woman with 60 kg = 12 mg per day).
  4. The upper level for Vitamin C was recommended at 1000 mg/day (Europe) and 2000 mg per day (US/Canada). However, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) wasn't able to derive an upper level due to missing adequate data.
