We’ve noticed some of you raising concerns about the smell of our Omega-3 supplements. Some people also recognised burping sensations. Let’s address this transparently:

1. Algae Oil, Not Fish Oil

Our Omega-3 capsules use life’s®OMEGA, a high-quality algae-derived oil. Unlike fish oil, algae oil should not naturally have a strong smell. A noticeable aroma can result from the enclosed environment of the Essentials sachet concentrating the oil’s natural scent.

 2. Capsule Technology

We use Licaps®, specially designed for fatty liquids like algae oil. Here is why: 

Enhanced Bioavailability: Licaps® capsules contain liquid or dissolved active ingredients, which are released rapidly upon ingestion. This allows the body to absorb the substances more quickly and efficiently, leading to higher bioavailability compared to traditional solid forms.

Clean Label and Allergen-Free: Licaps® adhere to a strict “clean label” concept, meaning they contain no unnecessary additives. They are free from plasticizers, allergens, gluten, and lactose, making them suitable for individuals with various intolerances. 

Oxidation Protection and Stability: The capsules are filled under a nitrogen atmosphere, creating a small nitrogen bubble inside each transparent capsule. This design protects sensitive ingredients from oxidation, ensuring longer shelf life and maintaining the efficacy of the encapsulated substances. On top there is added rosemary extract and antioxidants to protect the omega-3-fatty acids. 

  3. Why the Smell?

The closed environment of the Essential sachets can occasionally intensify the aroma, but this does not mean the oil is oxidised or spoiled. On the contrary, the sealed sachet allows less to no air to reach the capsules and thus prevents premature oxidation of the fats.
