Why is the small capsule now brownish? Have there been changes to the Essentials?Updated a month ago

Yes, indeed. The small capsule has now been enhanced with a vitamin B complex (which causes the yellowish-brown color due to vitamin B2, etc.), and the label on the pouch should actually say “small brown capsule.”

The Essentials now consist of the following active ingredients:

• 1000 mg algae oil (life’s® OMEGA) with 300 mg DHA and 150 mg EPA (Omega-3)

• 125 mg magnesium (from magnesium bisglycinate)

• 5.3 mg zinc (from zinc picolinate)

• 100 µg vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7)

• 50 µg vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) (2000 IU)

• Methylated forms of b vitamins, 

  • 1.8 mg vitamin B1 (thiamine)

  • 2.1 mg vitamin B2 (riboflavin)

  • 24 mg niacin (vitamin B3)

  • 3.6 mg vitamin B6

  • 9 mg pantothenic acid

  • 75 µg biotin

  • 600 µg folic acid

  • 20 µg vitamin B12
